Mims Davies MP, the Conservative member representing Copthorne, has written to the Home Office regarding Copthorne asylum seekers and included feedback from local residents
Mims was thrilled to host even more of her in-person 'Meet Mims' events, this time in Copthorne for residents. She had previously hosted her 'Meet Mims' event in Wivelsfield, Uckfield, Nutley, Newick, Turners Hill, Uckfield, Danehill and many more and aims to reach all the villages and towns to engage with residents - with more planned for the new year!
Conservative MP Mims Davies said:
I’m sharing my letter to the Home Office regarding asylum seekers in Copthorne and our constituency and concerns you have raised with me as constituents.
I recently held my Copthorne ‘Meet Mims’ event and residents shared questions with me they’d like raised with the Home Office, mainly around illegal working, curfews introduced, and police presence which I have outlined in this letter.
Experiences shared with me involved the men leering at residents, the use of illegal drugs, swearing, littering, shoplifting, using subsistence cards for alcohol and more.
This is beyond unacceptable and as soon as I receive a response I will be sure to update you.
