Tireless work by a Conservative councillor in East Grinstead is coming to fruition as the town’s Sackville School is set to benefit from £1.6 million of upgraded sports facilities.
The 11-18 school’s ageing hard surface sports areas are dilapidated and in need of replacement. The scheme for the Lewes Road site includes upgrade of existing Redgra-surfaced sports facilities with associated artificial turf, mesh fencing, LED lighting, acoustic barrier, areas of hard standing and resurfaced long/triple jump pit.
“I am delighted to see that after years of promoting the much-needed sports facilities upgrade at Sackville School that the capital funding has finally been approved”, said Cllr Russell.
Subject to ‘call in’ the exciting project will be undertaken as a school-managed one.
“It is only right that the school and wider community, including East Grinstead Athletics Club, will have access to fit-for-purpose sports facilities which will be a great addition and enhancement of the town’s sports facilities”, added Cllr Russell.
