Mims Davies MP intervenes in House of Commons on water outages and  an ongoing issues with flies in Chailey

Mims has regularly spoken in the Chamber, news, and with constituents about the ongoing water outages and lack of infrastructure and plans for these situations.

Throughout the recent outages, Mims and her team, among others, were working round the clock to ensure residents were kept fully up to date during the emergency situation experienced due to South East Water outages.

Business owners from all over the constituency reached out to Mims regarding the insufficient amount of compensation. Following discussions, Mims launched an official Parliamentary Petition and raised this in the House of Commons on behalf of businesses:

Mims Davies MP said:

In the House of Commons, I intervened to raise 2 issues affecting residents including water outages and the continuous flies issue in Chailey and the surrounding areas.

Our insufficient water infrastructure, the lack of confidence in the resilience of the network, and the failure to plan adequately for drought conditions is not okay.

I asked the Minister whether it is acceptable for South East Water and Southern Water to remain separate organisations when customers are paying high bills but still facing service interruptions and uncertainty over accountability.

My residents deserve a reliable water supply, proper investment in infrastructure, and clear answers when things go wrong.

I will continue pressing both the water companies and the Government to deliver the improvements our communities need.
