Sussex's rail investigators are keeping our Conservative local MP informed following the Lewes train derailment.
British Transport police have told Mims Davies that they have deployed specialised officers and resources (such as drones) to the scene while they investigate the cause of the incident.
They are working closely with the Network Rail's Investigation Bureau. Meanwhile the EGU MP has praised the emergency services and all those who helped passengers on the London Victoria to Eastbourne train when it came off the track, with three carriages falling down an embankment.
Speaking on social media she said "Huge thanks to all those who helped get people from the scene swiftly, supporting all the passengers and train crew". She warns that rail disruption is likely on the route for several days.
"The British Transport Police have informed me they have deployed specialist resources including CID, scene-of-crime officers and drone officers to support the response and subsequent investigation. BTP continues to work closely with RAIB, Network Rail, the train operating company and emergency service partners as enquiries progress.
"The incident has now moved from the immediate response phase into recovery and investigation. BTP will assist RAIB as they work to establish the cause of the derailment.
