MP Mims Davies met some of the Gatwick Airport team to discuss jobs, investment, opportunities for social mobility and transport upgrades to make the airport's planned second runway work, Of special interest was the likely impact on East Grinstead, Uckfield and the surrounding villages.
This meeting was even more pivotal following the approval of Gatwick's additional runway.
Mims' constituents, some of whom are only five minutes away from Gatwick, have already raised concerns about aircraft noise, air pollution, climate change targets, and other environmental issues which the MP has been quick to raise on their behalf.

Mims Davies MP said:
Thank you to the Gatwick team for taking the time to talk to me at the Conservative Party Conference.
Gatwick is a huge topic of conversation for many of my constituents, some of whom live in very close proximity to the airport and have huge concerns on what the extra runway will mean for them and how it will impact their day-to-day lives.
I can assure residents I will continue to push for the upgrades we need on our roads and railways, the easing of rail bottlenecks at Croydon, and road queues at Felbridge amongst many others, champion key infrastructure projects such as the Brighton Mainline 2 linking Uckfield, Lewes and Brighton, work to improve bus services to Crawley from East Grinstead, vastly improve our East/West connectivity and upgrade current diesel-only lines.
It was useful to meet with members of the airport team again and update them on the worries and concerns I've received from residents, and I will be posting a further update and meeting with the team again shortly.
So, if you are a resident and have questions about the Gatwick expansion, please do not hesitate to contact me – [email protected].
