East Grinstead's Conservative MP, Mims Davies, joined the newly-elected town Mayor, Cllr John Belsey, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open new Padel courts as an extension to the area's public sports facilities.
"I was thrilled to be in EastGrinstead alongside our new town Mayor, Cllr John Belsey", said Conservative MP, Mims Davies. "Congratulations to our new Mayor for East Grinstead, who is very proud to follow the very hard-working Cllr Steve Ody. This is a busy and vital role which is such an honour to fulfil.
"I was so pleased to be with our new Mayor during the weekend at both East Grinstead Rugby Club for the Ashurst Wood Junior FC Football Awards after we’d attended the official opening of East Grinstead's new Padel Courts.
"Usually, we have only private courts, so these fantastic community courts are a huge asset to our area. I highly recommend everyone to have a go; it’s such fun, great for our physical health, and even better for our mental health being active and enjoying the sun and fresh air."
"We were also thrilled to be accompanied by Project Leader and local Olympic Gold Medallist, Richard Leman OBE, from East Grinstead, who spearheaded this fantastic project. As well as hearing brilliant speeches from Sandi Proctor (LTA President) and Duncan Maclay (Director of EG Padel).
"A huge thank you to everyone who put in countless hours to enable this project to be the huge success it is. I look forward to booking the courts soon and seeing residents enjoying this new facility."
