Labour's cruel government is now attacking more vulnerable people, this time cuts to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund - which provides vital therapeutic support for children and their adoptive families.

Surprisingly, Liberal Democrat councillors on West Sussex County Council joined their Socialist colleagues by not supporting a call from the ruling Conservatives to lobby Government against the cuts.

An action group, against the proposed cuts, has been created. It's active on social media platforms. It highlights how Labour have "turned their back on some of the most vulnerable children in our country".

"There were statements made by the Minister for Children and Families that will have caused real distress to our community", say the protest group. "One of these was the way in which she dismissed children accessing match funding by stating that they’re only 2% of all applications. As if they didn’t matter. She said they can find their help elsewhere."

These are some of our most vulnerable and most complex children who have needed to access transformative and life saving therapy.

These children have had therapy cut by up to 90% without preparation, warning or evidence base.

Contact the pressure group at [email protected] urges West Sussex's Cabinet Member for Children, East Grinstead's Cllr Jacquie Russell who explains:

"The cuts overall are 40% on the fair access limit for therapy but when factor in that the specialist assessment allowance has gone leaving the cost of this to be met via the therapy funding it leaves £500 - as you say a 90% reduction on the fair access limit.

"Match funding for exceptional cases has gone leaving the local authority to pick up the cost through local taxes despite the massive burden of SEND costs and increasing deficits."
